It was hand painted before firing. The name "Meiping" means literally "Plum Vase" and is a style originating in the Song dynasty (960 1279) for use as a wine vessel. Usually they'd depict plum blossoms, but in this case, a fish design has been used. Porcelain is steeped in centuries of Chinese culture and history. Even though pottery developed
