Brass & Iron Trousseau Box From Shekhawati - 19th Century Calligraphy Brushes Black Lacquered Elm Cabinet dramaticThis Indian antique etched brass box is from Shekhawati and is an excellent example of the style and dates to the 19th century. These boxes are locally called peti (casket) and were originally used to store the trousseau (bridal clothes & jewellery). Each box is lined with fabric to safeguard the expensive contents.
