Eligibility for the award of the medal was subsequently extended to cover service in 1919 and 1920 in mine-clearing at sea as well as participation in operations in North and South Russia

within Canada or its territorial and contiguous waters since 1947

provided the said service has not been otherwise recognized by a service medal other than the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal where applicable

and a bar is awarded for those deployed during the actual war

The ribbon attached to the medal is blue with three stripes - two cream and one green
